Established in 1918, the British Antique Dealers’ Association strives to maintain the highest level of professionalism throughout the antiques and fine art dealing industry. One of its primary goal involved the development of a sense of mutual esteem between its members and the public. To achieve this, the organization created a set of bylaws that stand as the framework for this endeavor. These include a pledge to provide accurate descriptions of selling pieces, to obtain approximate dates of its manufacture, and generally to strive to accurately presenting all salient facts pertaining to an antique item for sale. There are many benefits to be derived from becoming a friend of the organization, including free entry into major antique art fairs, access to a wide range of fine art professionals, and exclusive viewings of private collections.
